Autostrade per l’Italia and its subsidiaries are carrying out a major investment plan to develop and modernize the highway network.
A1Milano - Gallarate
Construction of lane 3 and lane 4 (29 Km)
Work description
The expansion of the A8 Milano - Laghi stretch between Milan and Gallarate was completed in October 1999 and entailed the construction of a:
- 4th lane between Milan and Lainate, extending for 9 km;
- 3rd lane between Lainate and Gallarate, extending for 20 km.
The work was designed and undertaken to:
- improve access to Malpensa airport, allowing the infrastructure to serve its function as international airport hub with suitable road links.
bring the infrastructure's capacity into line with increased commuter levels in Milan's metropolitan area.
