Investment plan and ongoing measures
Every day, nearly 5 million motorists pass though the 3.020 km highway network managed by Autostrade per l'Italia and its subsidiaries.
A major investment plan, which envisages a financial commitment of over €25 billion, is being implemented for the expansion and modernisation of the network and the addition of third, fourth and fifth lanes to approximately 1.066 km of highway network.
An overview of expansion interventions carried out by Autostrade per l'Italia and its subsidiaries is provided below.
In addition to the construction of third and fourth lanes, work is underway on new junctions and on the refurbishment and upgrading of the lighting, ventilation and fire protection systems of 401 tunnels along the network. Other investments, worth approximately €3,5 billion, are also underway for the structural and technological upgrading of the network.
Over 480 km of work completed, with third, fourth and fifth lanes
Work has been completed on over 480 km of network, including:
- 432,4 km of the Autostrade per l'Italia network
- 51,2 km of the Autostrade per l'Italia subsidiaries network
A breakdown of the interventions undertaken by Autostrade per l'Italia and its subsidiaries is available below.
Autostrade per l'Italia interventions (pursuant to the 1997 Convention)
Work has been completed on approximately 197 km of the network, accounting for 66% of the overall 1997 plan.
Autostrade per l'Italia interventions (included in the IV Contract Addendum of 2004)
The IV Contract Addendum, entered into by Autostrade per l'Italia in December 2002, only came into force in June 2004 following communication by ANAS of the successful registration of the Addendum with the Court of Auditors. Only then was it possible to undertake the planning and authorisation procedures provided for by current legislation.
By 31.12.2017 work on more than 233 km (around 86% of the overall 2004 plan) had been completed.
Work on the network of Autostrade per l'Italia subsidiaries
Work on approximately 51 km (around 56% of the overall works planned by our subsidiaries) has been completed to date.
