Values and governance

The creation of value for all stakeholders is an Autostrade per l'Italia priority. Transparency, rigour, rejection of all forms of discrimination, occupational health and safety, respect for the environment and promotion of technological innovation and social development: the principles of sustainability and the values acknowledged in the Code of Ethics are the basis of Group governance strategies and models.

Autostrade per l'Italia sets out the values and principles that it follows in carrying on its business, in the Code of Ethics.

Like employees, independent partners, business partners and all other parties that have relations with the Group are required to respect the norms and the principles as set out in the Code.

It is around Code of Ethics values that Autostrade per l'Italia developed its highway network sustainability governance, management and development guarantee model.

Code of Ethics values

The Group draws on the following principles in order to achieve its objectives:

  • compliance with all the provisions of the law and current regulations in the countries in which the Group operates
  • observance of the most stringent rules of conduct in its relations with the Public Administration in full compliance with institutional duties
  • honesty, transparency and reliability
  • equality and impartiality in the treatment of customers, employees and independent contractors
  • loyalty, fairness and good faith
  • respect for employees and independent contractors and for people in general
  • environmental protection and occupational safety

Corporate Social Responsibility organisational structure

The Autostrade per l'Italia organisational structure provides that the three - economic, social and environmental - dimensions of sustainability be monitored by dedicated bodies, each responsible for a single area of expertise.

The Institutional Relations and Sustainability Unit is responsible for coordinating the various bodies. Its duty is to structure Group commitment over the various CSR issues in a coordinated plan, with a single aim. From an operational point of view, the Institutional Relations and Sustainability Unit:

  • ensures that sustainability-related initiatives are developed within the company
  • promotes adoption of CSR principles in the activity planning and management stage
  • oversees the drawing up of the Sustainability Report, by coordinating the activities and the contributions of the various business areas.
