Italian legislation

Autostrade per l’Italia and its subsidiaries are carrying out a major investment plan to develop and modernize the highway network.

Critical Areas

Within the relevant highway infrastructure zone, have been recorded and identified all the receptors and the main sources of noise (highway and insolvency sources); subsequently were identified all buildings at the location of which the sound levels induced by vehicular traffic are estimated exceed the limit values laid down in national legislation in force.

The study was carried out in order to objectively assess the noise impact produced by a road transport infrastructure: the procedure, described in the documents annexed to the Decree of the Ministry of the Environment of 29/11/2000, was tested and validated by the Genoa Pilot Project, and developed between 2000 and 2007 by Autostrade per l'Italia in collaboration with the Municipality and the Prefecture of Genoa, the Liguria Region and the Directorate-General for Environmental Protection division of the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Sea.
