Sustainability

Autostrade is a Group of companies made up of people working together to plan, build, expand and manage a motorway network of benefit to the social and economic development of the country, ensuring safety and mobility. Autostrade provides a primary and vital service, which is by nature inextricably linked with its impact on society and the environment in which it operates.

These factors put the issues of social and environmental responsibility at the top of Group companies’ agendas, which combine public service provision with the goals of creating value and meeting all stakeholders’ requirements.

The Autostrade Group has therefore adopted an integrated management model, aimed at sustainability. Some years ago Autostrade launched a process designed to ensure that its commitment is increasingly explicit. This led the Group to undertake a series of initiatives:
  • adoption of a governance system with the related codes of conduct (the Corporate Governance Code, the Ethical Code, the Code of Conduct for Internal Dealing);
  • certification of certain key processes and the implementation of a Quality System;
  • publication of the Environmental Charter and the setting up of the Environmental and Social Responsibility Committee, with the aim of coordinating and driving sustainable development initiatives;
  • signing up to the United Nations Global Compact project, which aims to promote corporate social responsibility
  • at the beginning of 2005, the Group signed up to the World Economic Forum’s Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI), in support of zero tolerance policy regarding corruption.
In recognition of its performance in the environmental and social field, Autostrade is included in the Aspi Eurozone (Advanced Sustainable Performance Index) and Axia Ethical indexes.

Since 1997 Autostrade Group has published a Social and Environmental Report, thus marking the start of Autostrade’s progress towards the first Integrated Annual Report in 2005, which includes a section entirely devoted to Sustainability.
