Autostrade per l’Italia and its subsidiaries are carrying out a major investment plan to develop and modernize the highway network.

Electronic speed monitoring

Speed monitoring

Autostrade per l'Italia embraces transparency. As such, it has opted to make the public aware of the location of all fixed speed cameras installed along its network and managed by the Italian Polizia Stradale (Highway Police).
Statistics show that over 90% of fatal accidents are caused by bad driving behaviour and that approximately 60% of the deaths occurring on the highway every year are speed-related. The initiative aims to prevent road traffic accidents by educating motorists, through information, to reduce speed and respect the speed limits.

Those travelling on the highway are invited to drive prudently along the entire network and not only in proximity of speed cameras.

Unless otherwise specified the highway speed limit is 130 km/h.
In the event of rain the limit is reduced to 110 km/h.

The presence of fixed speed cameras is in any case indicated by warning signs and by a special sign located directly above the speed cameras.
