Rome, 24 July 2014 – Autostrade per l’Italia forecasts a single traffic black alert for summer 2014, on the morning of Saturday 9 August.
An accurate guide to traffic forecasts is available online at www.autostrade.it to help customers plan their journeys properly. The weekends marked with a red alert are those of the first half of August, due to traffic travelling to holiday destinations. Meanwhile, the second half of the month and the first weekend of September will be characterised by a heavier flow of traffic towards cities. Autostrade per l’Italia also provides an interactive map, available on the website, with traffic forecasts for each route, according to the day and time of departure. The same information is available at all “Hi-Point” information points available in service areas. Also, live webcam images, travel times and tips for travellers are provided by My Way – Highways for Italy’s innovative TV platform, produced in collaboration with SKY – which offers constant traffic updates that can be found on the Autostrade per l’Italia website, every half hour on the Sky Weather channel and live on Skytg24 from Monday to Friday at 8.20 a.m. and at 5.50 p.m., with extra slots at the weekend (Friday at 12.50 p.m. and 7.50 p.m., Saturday at 10.20 a.m. and Sunday at 5.50 p.m. and 7.50 p.m.). Autostrade per l’Italia ensures a constant flow of information, also available in English, via 180 dedicated call centre lines and live 24 hours a day on RTL 102.5, Isoradio and Viaradio Digital. The information is also available on the TV channel “Infomoving” in service areas and via the app, Infoblu Traffic.
In addition, over the course of the summer, journeys made by Italians will be enriched with excitement thanks to the “You are in a wonderful country” initiative by Autostrade per l’Italia, which offers the chance to discover the hidden beauty of our country while on the road. By the end of the month, there will be 50 service areas in which motorists will find a new space – symbolically enclosed in a large golden frame – describing a series of travel "experiences", according to the travel time available, e.g., 3 hours, half a day, 1 day, 2 days. In collaboration with Touring Club, Slow Food and the Surveillance Department of the highway authorities of the Department of Infrastructure, General Affairs and staff of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, “You are in a wonderful country” values the less-known beauties of Italy. The "experiences" are available on the website www.autostrade.it and on the Autostrade per l’Italia Facebook page.
Lastly, an absolute novelty for summer 2014 is the competition “Diabolikally Safe”. From 28 July to 30 September, it will be possible to play with Diabolik on the website www.autostrade.it on the topic of road safety. A tablet can be won by drawing a cartoon of the famous comic strip character, with an original and effective slogan regarding road safety.
